Volunteers are a key part of the Centura Health LINKS team. Our volunteers help provide information and assistance to seniors and their family members about Medicare, Medicare Part D, and other public benefits available to seniors and Medicare Beneficiaries in the state of Colorado.
We offer volunteer opportunities that not only provide fulfilling opportunities but also allows our volunteers to spend their time giving back to and enriching the lives of our community members. Our volunteer opportunities vary from assisting with administrative work, to outreach and networking, to providing Medicare counseling.
State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Counselor
Become a certified SHIP counselor and be part of the largest SHIP office in the state. LINKS’ SHIP program focuses on providing Medicare assistance and counseling to 11 counties across Colorado.
Our SHIP counselors help Medicare beneficiaries, their family, friends, and caregivers understand their Medicare benefits and options through one-on-one counseling, community presentations, and outreach.
Volunteers must complete a robust 3-day SHIP training and exam before obtaining their certification. In addition to the initial SHIP training, LINKS offers its volunteers many ongoing opportunities for additional training and learning opportunities so they can stay up to date with senior health care resources and policies.
The ideal candidate is comfortable learning new, complex systems and working with a wide variety of people. Prior experience with Medicare is not required as volunteers can become experts on Medicare-related issues through training and on-site experience.
If you have a passion for helping others and want to see real-time outcomes to your work then a position with Centura Health LINKS is for you.
